Spotify HiFi was introduced in February 2021 and was about to be released later that year. However, competitors like Apple Music and Amazon quickly offered music at no extra cost, which probably delayed Spotify’s plans.
Since the initial announcement, Spotify has been quiet about HiFi, with no official announcements or significant updates. Some predicted that the delay is due to issues with music rights, as Spotify needs agreements from major music companies.
Sopity is now working on a broader “Music Pro” package that might include features like early-access concert tickets, DJ remixing tools, karaoke, and so on.
CEO Daniel Ek has mentioned a “deluxe” subscription tier, offering higher quality and more control.
The Music Pro will likely cost an additional $5 or $6 on top of the standard Spotify Premium subscription, which currently starts at $11.99 per month.
Now, here are the features highlighted for Spotify’s new high-quality music experience –
User-demanded Feature – High-quality music streaming, is one of the most requested features by users.
CD-Quality Audio – Spotify HiFi delivers music in CD-quality, lossless audio format for enhanced depth and clarity.
Wide Compatibility – Collaborations with top speaker manufacturers to ensure Spotify HiFi is accessible via Spotify Connect-enabled speakers.
Seamless User Experience – Spotify HiFi integrates with Spotify’s user-friendly interface to offer a superior listening experience.
So, after years of waiting, it seems 2025 might finally be the year we see Spotify HiFi or Music Pro. Keep an eye out for more updates!
