Soon after introducing Public Betas for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18, Apple has now released a suite of minor updates across iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, tvOS 17.6, watchOS 10.6, and macOS Sonoma 14.6.
Apple’s official notes say these releases are meant to fix bugs, enhance security, and for general optimizations.
However, the updates also include various other noteworthy additions.
One of the more significant improvements is in macOS Sonoma 14.6. The new update for the OS enables multi-display support in clamshell mode, particularly for the M3 MacBook Pro.
Previously, this feature was only available to the higher-end M3 Pro and M3 Max models.
With this new introduction, M3 MacBook Pro users can now connect and utilize two external displays with their laptops closed. This change enhances productivity and workspace flexibility.
It’s worth noting that Apple had previously introduced similar multi-display support for the M3 MacBook Air through a similar update.
For sports enthusiasts, iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6 introduce a new Catch Up feature within the Apple TV app.
This function lets users quickly watch the highlights from an ongoing Soccer League before checking out the live broadcast.
Thus, the Catch Up feature provides a convenient way to stay updated on the game’s progress without missing any live action.
All these updates focus on improvements of the OS across Apple’s devices rather than introducing groundbreaking new features.
Apple is expected to unveil its major annual updates in the upcoming fall season, including iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia 15.
Apple Intelligence, a highly anticipated suite of generative AI features, is set to debut in iOS 18.1.
While not part of the current updates, the recent release of the iOS 18.1 developer beta offers a glimpse into this promising technology.
As Apple is continuously into innovation, users can look forward to more advanced and intelligent features across its product ecosystem.
Users can now download and install iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, tvOS 17.6, watchOS 10.6, and macOS Sonoma 14.6 on their compatible devices to enjoy the latest bug fixes, security patches, and new features.
