In the latest beta version of its Android app, Google has updated Gemini Extensions to Gemini Apps.
The company also explained this change on its Workspace Updates blog.
To make the feature more intuitive, the name change is anticipated to increase usability. This shift in branding is noticed in all parts of Gemini, like the account menu and the section for toggling each tool on or off.
Together with this, Google implemented a new model called Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking model which is said to offer stronger performance and advanced reasoning capabilities.
This update introduces Gemini Apps, enabling users to reprogram their devices with greater speed and efficiency, thus improving the entire user experience.
It also adds a small change to the home page where the model currently in use is represented by a small pill-shaped icon with a chevron. This is part of the latest updates designed to improve interactions and further integrate Google’s services.
You will now see that the Gemini app has been combined with several Google Workspace applications like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets.
This integration makes it simple to access pertinent data from your most used apps and services without leaving the Gemini platform. Furthermore, services from other companies such as WhatsApp and Spotify are also offered.
Google is continuously providing regular updates to the Gemini platform. For instance, the Google Sheets app on the web has received new table formatting options, making essential formatting options available in one place.
This is part of Google’s broader strategy to improve user experience across its suite of applications. Stay connected for more news updates and further improvements.
