Microsoft was gearing up to introduce more AI features to Xbox, and they’ve just announced a breakthrough in AI for gaming.
The company has introduced the Muse AI model, which could assist game developers in creating various game elements and may even be utilized to update classic games for contemporary hardware.
Muse is capable of generating game environments based on the players’ actions and visuals. It comprehends 3D game worlds and responds to the gamers’ interactions within the game.
The training of Muse involved gameplay data from the Xbox title Bleeding Edge thanks to a collaboration with the Xbox studio Ninja Theory. The entire process included seven years of gameplay data, that trained the model to learn from a billion image-action pairs.
While Muse can produce game visuals, its current resolution is restricted to 300×180 pixels. Microsoft has provided some examples of Muse in action, but it is not designed to create complete games independently.
Microsoft looks forward to Muse enhancing classic games and adapting them for modern hardware.
The Muse model can analyze how older games function and make them playable across different platforms, paving the way for new opportunities in preserving and improving classic titles.
Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, emphasizes the importance of game preservation, noting that Muse’s capability to learn games without the original hardware can lead to numerous possibilities. Stay in touch to get news updates on this exciting development and more!
