Microsoft has officially launched Office 2024, the latest buy-once, use-forever version of its popular productivity suite.
This release caters to users who prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription model, offering updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other essential apps.
Office 2024 incorporates most updates made since Office 2021, such as new functions in Excel, improved accessibility, and better session recovery in Word.
However, it lacks some features available in the subscription-based Microsoft 365, including real-time collaboration and the Copilot AI assistant.
Microsoft will provide bug fixes and security updates for Office 2024 until October 9, 2029.
The suite is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, though Windows 10 support will end on October 14, 2025. For Mac users, it supports the three most recent versions of macOS: Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia.
Microsoft has confirmed that Office 2024 won’t be the last perpetually licensed version, promising at least one more standalone release.
This release continues Microsoft’s tradition of offering a non-subscription option for its Office suite, appealing to users who prefer a one-time purchase over ongoing payments.
