Baldur’s Gate 3 is breaking records, with its peak player count increasing weekly. The game is feature complete, a term that I thought had gone extinct, and for many it’s best experienced with a group of friends.
Playing multiplayer on Baldur’s Gate 3 is pretty easy. The game supports both online multiplayer and local couch co-op. This article only covers the online multiplayer aspect. Here is how you can play online multiplayer on Baldur’s Gate 3.
Play Baldur’s Gate 3 With Friends Using Multiplayer
Online multiplayer allows up to 4 players, who can join at any moment by taking control of the other characters in the host player’s party.
Here is how you can play multiplayer with friends on Baldur’s Gate 3.
Run the game and click on Multiplayer.
If you want to host the team, then click on Create.
Here, you will be able to click on the Plus icon and invite your Steam friends. From the right side, you can change the lobby settings.
If you want your Steam friends to join, set this to Friends only.
If you only want the people you invite to join, set it to Invite Only.
Or you can set it to anyone and let anyone in the world join your game.
You can also change the number of players you want so you won’t have unwanted guests if you have fewer players than the complete 4.
If you want to join someone else’s server, open Multiplayer again.
Here, you will see the globally open servers you can join without issues.
If you want to join your friend’s server, check the Friends box to show only your friends’ servers. Once you find it, simply click on it.
Else, you can directly connect using the Direct Connect option.
