WhatsApp is planning to make its web version more practical. Currently, if you wish to place a voice or video call through WhatsApp, you can use the mobile application or the desktop application for Windows or Mac. But in the near future, you may be able to place those calls right from your web browser.
A site named WABetaInfo, which keeps an eye on upcoming WhatsApp features, detected hints that this feature is under testing. They noticed fresh call buttons (a camera icon for video calls and a phone icon for voice calls) show up in the web version of WhatsApp. Previously, these buttons were not present.
Last month, WhatsApp changed the way calls function by introducing a new dropdown menu for initiating voice and video calls in chats in some beta users (individuals who test early versions of an application). Now, they appear to be testing making calls accessible directly from the web version as well.
WABetaInfo even posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp group chat in a web browser that easily reveals the new call buttons. They resemble the ones you find in the mobile app.
Once WhatsApp completes testing and rolls out this feature to all users, it will be more versatile. You’ll be able to chat, make voice calls, and video calls directly from your browser—just like apps like Microsoft Teams. Stay tuned for more such news updates!
