Music lovers who prefer to use Google’s Gemini AI assistant might soon rejoice. According to recent reports, Gemini is about to integrate with the most popular third-party music streaming services, such as Apple Music and Spotify.
PiunikaWeb and X user @AssembleDebug claim about this new “Music” option nestled within the Gemini app’s settings. This option will allow you to select your preferred services for playing music.
This new feature isn’t currently functional, but Google is said to be working to connect Gemini to streaming services. Once implemented, it would allow users to control music playback directly through Gemini using voice commands.
This integration of Gemini with the music streaming services, seems to be a major improvement with some limitations.
Unlike its predecessor, Google Assistant, Gemini currently lacks the ability to interact with third-party music apps.
As per speculation, the new feature should allow users to link their preferred streaming service accounts within the Gemini app.
This would then allow the users to use specific voice commands like ” Gemini, can you please play my Weekly playlist on Spotify?” or ” Gemini please skip this song on Apple Music.”
Another possibility of the feature is song identification. The users can also ask Gemini, “What song are you playing now?”. They can then identify the song and play it possibly using your preferred streaming service. This very functionality would mirror popular apps like Shazam.
The official launch date of the feature is still unknown, this endeavour undoubtedly shows Google is actively working on enhancing Gemini’s capabilities.
With third-party music streaming support on the horizon, Gemini could become a more well-rounded virtual assistant, competing more effectively with rivals like Alexa and Siri.
